چکیده

Key properties of multimedia traac are characterized by the great diversity of correlation and burstiness. Construct the multimedia traac by heterogeneous 2-state Markov chains as in 1] 2]. Here we allow each 2-state MC to be deened on diierent transition intervals, representing the diversity of peak access rate from individual sources. Upon time renormalization, the queue is modeled by a multi-dimensional discrete Markov process. Generalizing the technique developed in 2] 3], we are able to construct the entire solution of queue length distributions. It uses generating function approach. By matrix spectral decomposition, one can decompose the evaluation of each individual vanishing/non-vanishing root. Each vanishing root is used to obtain the queue boundary values; each non-vanishing root constructs a geometric term in the expression of the queue length distribution. It is found that all the vanishing roots must be real and all the complex non-vanishing roots can be ignored. In numerical studies, we examine the eeect of diverse source access rates and time-varying scales on ATM queues.

The Departure Process of a Discrete - Time Finite Capacity System with Correlated Arrivals Zhi

Queueing network models have proven to be very useful in the analysis of communication systems. The departure process of a queue in a queueing network is of special interest because it is the arrival process to other queues in the network. For high speed networks, correlation and burstiness are very important factors for system performance and thus the smooth Bernoulli process is no longer a go...

Towards the formation of comprehensive SLAs between heterogeneous wireless DiffServ domains

Traffic patterns generated by multimedia services are different from traditional Poisson traffic. It has been shown in numerous studies that multimedia network traffic exhibits self-similarity and burstiness over a large range of time-scales. The area of wireless IP traffic modeling for the purpose of providing assured QoS to the end-user is still immature and the majority of existing work is b...

Discrete Time Analysis of Multi-Server Queueing System with Multiple Working Vacations and Reneging of Customers‎

This paper analyzes a discrete-time $Geo/Geo/c$ queueing system with multiple working vacations and reneging in which customers arrive according to a geometric process. As soon as the system gets empty, the servers go to a working vacations all together. The service times during regular busy period, working vacation period and vacation times are assumed to be geometrically distributed. Customer...

A Multiple Time Scale, Aggregate Source Model for Edge Traffic in the Next Generation Network

Edge or core-ingress traffic in the Next Generation Network (NGN) is generated by the hierarchical aggregation of multiple, heterogeneous client flows. We model the edge traffic arrival process for an aggregated multi-service user group. The model quantifies the relationship between traffic shaping factors: user group behaviour and service properties, multiplexing buffering and scheduling archi...

The MM \sum\limits_{k = 1}^K {} CPPk/GE/c/L G-Queue and Its Application to the Analysis of the Load Balancing in MPLS Networks

1. The MM ∑K k=1 CPPk/GE/c/L G-Queue It is well known that the traffic in today’s telecommunication systems often exhibits burstiness i.e. batches of transmission units (e.g. packets) arrive together with correlation among the interarrival times [12]. Several models have been proposed to model such arrival-service processes, queues and networks. These include the compound Poisson process (CPP) ...
